Expected a little bit more from QB1, higher level competition last week gave a pass. Has huge arm but lacks touch and accuracy so far
Good first 20 minutes or so for SFA, but not so much last 10 minutes of half.
Expected much more from our RBs. They have been quiet so far. Maurer good arm but needs to hone the touch on his throws.
Going to have to get things going in 2nd half. Failure to score TDs have hurt this team in recent seasons.
I wouldn't trade Campos for anybody ...but...offense has got to start punching in TDs.

I was led to believe that our Rush defense only gave up a ton of yards because "Troy is FBS and they have an NFL running back."
Well, Alcorn has 118 on the ground at 5 yards a pop.
Maurer looks good, to me, but this game should not be this close.

Can we goto QB2??? We should be up 2 possessions , offense can't get moving with any consistency.

Zach did get us to the playoffs, so I'm down for that.

Hard to find much to fault tonight. Super great 2nd half effort.

NwST will be another notch up the competitive ladder, so this is a nice one to build on.

Not sure how to feel about tonight. 3 interceptions - not good.
Defense helped a lot. Wish we were making better decisions offensively. Liked the fact that we took more shots downfield. Receivers looked really good. Brian's a freak athlete! But eliminate the turnovers, and he's even freakier. Those turnovers will cost us significantly in any close game. Can't have 3.

Defense held them in check the second half and only gave up 27 yards rushing. Big improvement.
Special teams were special in a good way tonight.
Need to cut down on the turnovers and turn turnovers into points.

My assessment is similar. If Mauer plays more consistent, we win this game 48-6
Defense had its moments. Love what I'm seeing. The improvement on the defensive side is solid. Close to being a real asset.
What did attendance end up as?
At some point later in the broadcast, I think I heard 7700 from one of the guys.

The crowd was one of the best I've seen on TV in years. Years.

Perhaps because at least one of us (me) was at the game.
BTW, they announced that 1,500+ students were counted going into the game. Maybe that little attendance contest they're having is paying off.
There were about 60-70 Purple Hazers leading the team onto the field. That was nice to see. And the noise they made by banging their axe handles on the metal stands right behind the Alcorn bench was great. But the stadium announcer had to remind them that they should only do it when the opponents had the ball. A little slap on the wrist worked wonders.
I'll give Maurer the benefit do the doubt. As many bad throws as he had there were as many dropped passes, some uncontested dropped passes. In the second half when he was struggling, you could tell he was just frustrated, which he will need to work on, but I think he will get better as the year goes in.
Other than that, this was an amazing game against an Alcorn team that will probably win some big games this year. It made me hopeful. Bring in NSU.

Normally it looks like we inflate our numbers, today I feel we were way over 7844. That crowd was amazing!

I'm not good at estimating crowds, but it feels about right. The number is definitely not inflated. I was very pleased with the student section, and a good portion of the crowd staying until the game was clinched. It's not unusual for the stadium to empty out after half time.
