Sounds like the same kid that was doing the Lady Jack basketball games. I think one of the problems is the crowd mikes are turned off. It is just an awkward silence behind them...

This is underwhelming.

Pretty good drive by WT. Let's see if the offense can get focused and move the ball.

There we go - establish the run - hit the long ball for TD.

That's how you answer their drive. Nice pass, I do think that Self has made some good strides with his passing. The better the OL gets will open our offense up to Self's advantage.

Really all we need to fix is our secondary, which is really unfixable due to the injuries and depth issues.

Didn't need that....starting center carted off late in 4th qtr.

That sucks. Totally. Axes Down.

Good solid win. Maybe not as many points scored by SFA as some would like but outcome never in doubt. Good play by the defense all game, offense struggled here and there. Good to see #24 Turner get a TD after having a rough time at SMU. Injury to center Lapic is definitely a downer.

Lapic has been a great story of a walk on earning a starting role for the team and doing a great job at his opportunity.

I think freshman Frank Thompson is the backup.

It's so stupid but I love it. I kind of want more stupid stuff to make our game day experience more fun for the fans.
I remember breaking axe handles when I was there.

A few non-football comments...

I absolutely hated the chainsaw sound on third downs. I have never heard anything like that in my lifetime of watching college football. It made no sense at all. A chainsaw??? What the heck does a chainsaw have to do with football and playing third-down defense? Whose idea was it to start playing that stupid sound clip?

And what's with playing the "Turn Out the Lights" song before the game was even over? That was classless.

And since I'm complaining, let me complain about one other thing... The SFA band has played the very same music for years and years. They play those same chants (for lack of a better word -- I'm no musician) thirty times a game. As long as they contiue to do that the atmosphere at home games will continue to be BORING. Shock us and change things up! Heck, I'd be willing to buy them some new music... That criticism falls on the band director and his assistants. I go to Class 6-A high school games every week, and the HS band directors are much more creative than the SFA directors.

OK, off my non-football soapbox...

Subdued, to put it nicely. Not much enthusiasm, except after TD's and long plays. Having the cheerleaders and pom squad behind the south end zone, a good 100 yards from the stands, certainly didn't help.

And the LMB only had 1/2 of their members there, to my understanding. They have divided the band into two groups due to the pandemic (due to seat spacing and attendance limits, I assume.)

WT had more fans there than I expected. They didn't have a whole lot to cheer about, but they were loud when they did.

I arrived early, so I don't know how many tailgaters there eventually were. Not a whole lot early on.

Agree with everything Fanatic said. The only thing I would add is the crowd, announced at just over 5,000, stayed longer than usual. Part of that had to be the usual band parents and family that leave after halftime, and probably just didn't come. Hard to generate much atmosphere under current conditions. Not bad considering.

All five mobile units ended up with people using them. The Alumni Association passed due to not having enough interest. My opinion is that they did an exceptionally weak attempt at promoting it.

In today's Facebook Live Chat, Coach Carthel said his main objective in the WT game was just to get the W. He said that playing D-II teams he doesn't care if the final score in 7-6 or 60-0... Just get the win.

He also said that he thinks the team's best performances are yet to come.
