I tell ya this defense is pretty good, and if we could get the offense on the same page this would be a solid team.

Even if it's not in the HC position, keeping Byrd on as DC might make sense.

Definitely a defensive win. Lack of OC really hurting right now.

They beat the spread!

On a serious note though the defense played a hell of a game. That second fumble killed us and waiting until the fourth to get the offense going is not the greatest strategy.

On to Sam.

In other news, Incarnate Word is rolling over ACU in Abilene. Maybe the right teams won.

I'm not 100% but I think Byrd good do some damage in the SLC with some time

Moral victories are for losers unless it is a team on the way up. Bottom line is 1-3, with a rain out against a team that is minutes away from being 4-0. Defense and special teams are serviceable. The offense is not. Again.

I agree 76..... but there is measurable progress. We have most of the players we need. Just a full time coaching commitment.

Each team had one drive over 40 yards. McNeese's 1st drive (touchdown); SFA's second drive (turnover on downs). They each had one drive over 30 yards - both field goals. Fumbles deep in their own side of the field led to a TD for both teams.

Pretty evenly matched defensive game. I guess Sawyer got some game time. Need a win in Houston.

We did make the DC interim head coach, and have no true OC on staff.

I'm not saying Byrd's the guy at HC, just that his side of the ball seems to be performing now that they've gotten settled in.

I certainly didn't think that our offensive play calling and execution was anything special in years past, but it's pretty clear that that's the thorn in our side this year. Not having an experienced play caller has definitely hurt us.
