The writers at www.arizonasports.com named SFA alum, Larry Centers, as one of the Cardinals 5 best draft day steals.
Watched him play several times, including in the 1-AA National Championship game at Georgia Southern. (A game we could have - should have - won.) He was a good one at both the collegiate and pro levels.SFA88 said:

Memories! I was at a few games during the National Championship playoff run, including the final in Statesboro, GA. Did you play that year? I still have the program and (I think) the local Statesboro newspaper from the day of that game.Jacks4460 said:
I played with LC at SFA and he was a beast on the practice field which is what made him so good in the games.. Only person that would work harder was Pat Jackson a WR from John Tyler.. These two would practice running the length of the field like they were scoring a TD on every play..
Yeah. There was a "massive" crowd of about 100 SFA fans there in that overflow crowd of about 20,000. I remember Lee Greenwood singing "God Bless the USA" to a thunderous applause after the game. That helped to ease the pain of the loss... a little. The better team didn't win that day.Jacks4460 said:

Amen sir we sure didnt win.. I also love coach Graves.. I am not sure on why he even got fired or quit. We would do anything for that man. Think that showed that year.. What a coaching staff we had.. Bradley Dale,Coach Zamanski,Gary DeLoach,Coach Phil Bounds...edstile said:Yeah. There was a "massive" crowd of about 100 SFA fans there in that overflow crowd of about 20,000.
