Armand Duplantis of Sweden (actually an American-born Swede from Lafayette, Louisiana) broke his own world outdoor pole vault record in Stockholm at 20' 2 1/2". Duplantis has an American father and a Swedish mother, and he spends his winters in Lafayette and his summers in Sweden so he can train year around. Since he was raised in America, it has taken several years for him to learn, but he is now fluent in Swedish. Duplantis also holds the world indoor record at 20' 4".
