SFA (12-7, 4-3) vs. Seattle (15-4, 6-0)
WHEN: JAN 26 (WED) 9:00P.M.
WHERE: Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle, WA)
WATCH: ESPN+
After a wild week in WAC play that saw the Lumberjacks play 4 games in 8 days, Seattle and Sam have turned into front runners and the Jacks are now chasers. The schedule doesn't get any easier with the longest road trip of the year (and that includes international travel!). Seattle and Cal Baptist are the farthest conference games SFA has ever played, and it will be seen how the players handle the trip.
This will be the third time this season the Lumberjacks have faced the undefeated leader of the WAC. ACU was 2-0. Jacks won. GCU was 4-0. Jacks won. Now Seattle is 6-0. Jacks are planning on continuing this season of handing teams their first losses.
Seattle is a small team of shooters that love to light it up from behind the arc - especially in their own building. Their top three players Tyson, Trammell, and Grigsby combine for about 50 points a game while providing a majority of the rebounding. They play well as a unit offensively, but they do have a tendency to foul. They have shot 80% from the line in conference play. It's not a fluke of the schedule that they are in first.
But, Seattle still hasn't played the top teams in the conference. SFA will be their first shot at a top 150 team. The Jacks will have to use their legs to disrupt the Redhawks offense. Expect to see a lot of guard pressure. Kalcheries, Posey, Jossell, and Willis are going to have to work hard to push the guards out of their comfort zone.
Inside Kensmil and Solomon will have to try to get the undersized opponent to foul to soften up the middle. Teams have been playing a tight core on us lately, so we'll need to find a shooting touch that we didn't have on Saturday.
A tough road game, but definitely one the Jacks can steal away.
